FBI investigating nationwide insurance scam – Business

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The FBI is working to identify businesses that may be victims of a nationwide insurance and pension plan scam. Last month, American Labor Alliance (ALA) and two of its executives were charged with mail fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud and money laundering. Since at least 2011, ALA offered a retirement pension plan to its clients that did not actually provide any coverage, according to court documents. The fake plans were listed under several names, such as “ALA Trust,” the “ALA Retirement Plan Trust,” or the “ALA Retirement Plan and Trust.” ALA and its affiliates also claimed to offer a broad range of financial services to potential clients, including tax preparation and drafting of incorporation and other documents.
