STUDY: South Dakota ranks 3rd in a new study of safest states for seniors – KELO AM-FM

Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota in the top ten SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska are the top four of five safest places in the nation for seniors to live. A recent study put Iowa first, Nebraska second, South Dakota third, and Minnesota fourth. North Dakota also rated high at sixth. The U.S. has a record number of people 65 and older, nearly 50 million.  Recently, the New York Times reported that a record number of seniors over 65 have filed for bankruptcy as people live longer and recessions have caused retirement accounts to vanish.
